Predoctoral Psychology Practicum and APPIC
Clinical Internship
Predoctoral psychology
students looking for their third-year therapy practicum experience
may apply for a position in Washburn's Outpatient
Program. Students typically gain experience with diagnostic
assessment, individual and family therapy, and parent counseling
within this program. There are also opportunities for supervised
psychological evaluations if the student is interested. Applications for therapy practicum positions are accepted in March.
Predoctoral psychology
students can also apply for the APPIC-approved Predoctoral Psychology Internship Program in Washburn's Outpatient department This internship provides interns with a wealth of diverse clinical
experiences and training opportunities, including urban and suburban
outpatient treatment, collaborative opportunities with schools,
psychological assessment, and supervision of practicum students. Training focuses on assessment and intervention of children, adolescents, and families.
Interns consult and collaborate with a range of
team members and community providers, including psychiatrists, social
workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, case managers,
school staff, and county workers.
Clinical supervision is provided by the training director and staff psychologists. Collaboration with other professionals at the agencies
is encouraged, based on the wealth of clinical experience and expertise
at each agency. Agency-wide training and inservices as well as didactic training seminars for psychology students are a part of the internship program.
Training opportunities with Washburn's Outpatient
Program are available at the Minneapolis, Hopkins, and Maple
Grove sites.
