School Supply Drives Give Children the Tools they need for Success in School
Mental health wellness is key to a child's success in school - so is having the right school supplies.
Thanks to Burnet Title and Allianz Life Insurance Company, kids at Washburn Center for Children started their school year out right. The two companies held back-to-school supply drives to help families who struggled to afford school supplies for their children.
"Going to school that first day with a new backpack and a fresh box of crayons are things which many of us took for granted," said Jeane McGinn, organizer of the Allianz supply drive. "Donating school supplies is a small gesture which has a big impact, especially to children in need."
As one therapist explained, "These school supplies are one less thing a child needs to worry about and one less thing that might set them apart from their peers."
More than 55% of the children Washburn serves come from families with low incomes, making supply drives and charitable donations vital to Washburn's mission.
