Washburn Selected as 2009 Provider of the Year
The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Minnesota (NAMI Minnesota) selected Washburn to receive its 2009 Provider of the Year Award for its demonstrated excellence, respect and best practices.
"With a 126 year history of excellence in serving children and their families, Washburn has continually responded to new research and ways to meet the changing needs of children and families," said Sue Abderholden, Executive Director of NAMI Minnesota. "Washburn is commended for bringing research into practice and for collaborations in the community, particularly with schools and Spanish speaking populations."
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of adults and children with mental illness and their families. NAMI Minnesota offers education, support and advocacy. NAMI Minnesota vigorously promotes the development of community mental health programs and services, improved access to services, increased opportunities for recovery, reduced stigma and discrimination, and increased public understanding of mental illness.
