Undergraduate Internships at Washburn Center for Children

Undergraduate Internship Opportunities

Undergraduate internships in education, human services, psychology and social work are available with our group treatment programs, Day Treatment and Family Focused/Infant-Toddler. These programs are housed at the Minneapolis office.

Within the group milieu, interns have the opportunity to work with a therapist/teacher team in providing therapeutic support to preschoolers and school age children. The goal is to foster emotional and behavioral regulation skills, support emerging social and coping skills, and promote developmental skills needed for successful functioning at home, at school and in the community. To enhance their training experience, interns may attend agency clinical in-services on children's mental health and case consultation meetings.

Undergraduates may also intern with our Preschool Outreach Program. This program offers training and consultation to childcare centers and in-home providers in the Hennepin County area. Interns assist Washburn staff with observation and screening, assessment and feedback.

Students can receive college credit for their internship work or simply volunteer for the learning experience. Internships are not available exclusively during J-term.
